LESSON 2: SPEAK.
A. Objectives:
I-Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to develop speaking skill and talk about the inventions using the passive.
II. Skills: - Listening, speaking , reading and writing.
B. Procedure:
I. Settlement: Greeting, checking attendance, and disposing for pair/ group work.
II .Checking: -Checking Ss’ preparations for the new lesson.

I. Pre - teach vocabulary:
-Having Ss study the meanings of the inventions using Vietnamese.
-facsimile / f(k`sim(li / (n):

-reinforced concrete : bê tông cốt thép.
-helicopter / `hel(kapt(r / (n): máy bay lên thẳng.
-loudspeaker (n): loa phóng thanh.
- microphone / `maikr(f(( / (n):

-X - ray : tia X, sóng điện từ, bước sóng ngắn.
- T reads first and then asks Ss to repeat
II. Grammar awareness:
-Asking Ss to read the dialogue on page 148 again and pick out all of the passive sentences.
-Call on Ss to give their answer.
-Have Ss review the passive in the present and past simple tense.
B. Practice:
III. Word - cue drill:
- Have Ss read the model dialogue on page 149
-Let Ss know what they are going to do.
Model:
T. What was invented by Friedrich Koeing?
S: Printing Press.
T: When was it invented?
S: In 1810.
T: Where was Koeing from?
S: He was from Germany.
-Monitor and help Ss if necessary.
- Give feedback and correct.
-Have Ss copy the complete table.
IV. Mapped dialogue:
-Model and have ss repeat.
Eg: The printing press was invented by Friedrich Koeing in 1810.
Ss copy the new words.
Ss repeat in chorus and then individual.
Ss give the sentences.
1.This is the place where the cocoa beans are stored.
2. That button can not be touched.
3. The beans are washed, weighed and cooked here.
4. After the shells are removed.
Ss work in pairs, one look at the table on page 150 and the other on page 156.
-Asking and answering the questions orally then fill in the missing information.
Ss work in individually.
IV .Consolidation:
- Get the Ss to act out the dialogue in pairs.
V. Homework:
-Learning new words by heart.
- Preparing for lesson 3- Unit16
